History of Egypt
There is evidence of human habitation in Egypt already before 8000 BC in an area in the southwestern corner of Egypt.
Egyptian history can be divided into six periods:
- Ancient Egypt: 3000 BC to 332 BC
- Greek and Roman Egypt: 332 BC to 639 AD
- Early Arab Egypt: 639 to 1517
- Ottoman Egypt: 1517 to 1805
- Egypt under Mehemet Ali and his successors: 1805 to 1882
- Modern Egypt: since 1882
Egypt is known for it's great pyramids from the time period of Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egypt reached the peak of its wealth, power, and territorial extent in a period commonly called the New Empire (1567-1085 BC).

The Old Kingdom period in the 3rd millennium BC has four dynasties.
